Back to School

Back to school today! This summer has flown by! I had been wanting to get a photo like this since we got these shoes, and I finally got a chance today! Arent they cute?

I took shoe pictures last year, so I thought I would again this year, lol. Blake got himself a pair of Air Jordans.

And of course, Layla (and Morgan!) got Skechers Twinkle Toes. They got the ones that light up, so they love to run up & down the hallway and watch them light up.

Time to go! I am so not a fan of uniforms. And no, it's not private school, it's public.

Super excited!

Excited, but you can't tell. It was his hair. We completely forgot about a haircut yesterday. Suddenly, as we were leaving, he had issues. He's getting it cut today.

That's a little better.

Maybe it's just because school started today, or because I'm ready for fall, but as I was outside bringing in the recycling bins and checking the pond & the pumpkins, I SWEAR that I feel a difference in the air. It's warm, but there is a really nice breeze today, and it's cool, not hot air like it usually is. I gotta run make the kids some cupcakes as a surprise snack, and we have football tonight. Have a good one!

Pumpkins & Football

Hello! I havent been up to anything super crafty, just the crayons, pumpkins, football, gymnastics... I've developed a love/hate relationship with the pumpkins. I love pumpkins, and the thought of having a field full come October. But man they are a lot of work! Lets take a look. We will definitely have quite a few gourds.

I dont know what kind of squash/gourd this is. We didnt plant it, but I am pretty sure that I picked out a green pumpkin last Halloween, so maybe it came from that? (We toss our fruit/veggie scraps out where we grow our garden). There are two of these.

Jack Be Little. This guy looks a little lopsided.

These are Lil Pump-ke-Mon. We will have quite a few of these!

Jack O Lantern. Sadly, I dont think we will have many of these, and obviously these would be the bread-winners. We are having major issues with Squash Vine Borers. This guy had several holes in it. :( Does anyone know what we can try to rid ourselves of these now that they are here, and to save what pumpkins are still developing?

Another Lil Pump-ke-Mon.

Big Max! These guys can get up to 100 lbs!

One of a pumpkin farmers favorite bugs! Ladybugs! These things love aphids which is good, because we have aphids, too. Joy. I have actually found a lot of ladybugs and there larvae out there.

Here is another Big Max. It's growing pretty fast.

This is a Cinderella Pumpkin. It's growing pretty fast, too. These pumpkins have definitely been an experience. Even if we arent super successful this year, we are learning, and hopefully, if we do it again next year, we will be even more successful.

The other thing keeping us pretty busy, is football! This is Blake's 2nd season playing and he really loves it. He did soccer for 4 years, and it's a little sad to not be out at the soccer field, but I think football may be more his sport than soccer. He's #27.

Go Jr. Cowboys!
Can you believe school is starting aleady? This summer has flown by. Anyway, have a good one!
